DESSI, Distributed Energy System and Security Infrastructure, http://DESSI.its-wiki.no

DESSI is a new infrastructure for modelling, emulation, monitoring and controlling of the electrical grid. DESSI covers simulations, emulations and cybersecurity of power systems, ranging from micro-, macro- to regional energy systems. To counteract the climate crisis and stay below 1.5 deg C temperature increase requires a massive transitive from energy to electrical systems.

DESSI will develop the physical system and computational methods necessary to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of power systems with large-scale renewable generation, flexible loads, storage devices, power flow control and security of cyber-physical systems. DESSI will include physical components such as

  • PV panels, small wind turbine, hydrogen technology components and batteries, for decentralized installations, peer-to-peer and autonomous operations
  • Inverters, power switches, IoT, for monitoring and control of micro-grids and power systems.
  • Scada architecture with PLC and other nodes, to simulate and emulate small industrial systems, including cybersecurity vulnerability analysis
  • Cyber-physical system simulator for simulation and cyber vulnerability analysis
  • Power Grid emulator to get hands-on experience on system effects

Besides the physical & virtual infrastructure, DESSI will also connect 80-100 houses and report the energy consumption. The high-resolutions energy data are collected per fuse and every 10 s to create a research data-base as a basis for the energy transition in households.

Linda-Familia, Implementation of an Integrated Digital Health System for Infectious Diseases in Maternal and Child Health In East Africa,

The adverse consequences of infectious diseases, including HIB, hepatitis B, malaria, tuberculosis, syphilis, sepsis, and other poverty-related infectious diseases on pregnant and breastfeeding women and children are well recognised. We aim to scale up the LINDA-FAMILIA eRegistries, an innovative, interoperable, and adaptable open-source digital health information system within the DHIS2 platform (District Health Information Software), replacing paper-based systems in maternal and child health units in the following four regions in East Africa: Addis Ababa Region, Ethiopia; Eastern Province, Rwanda; Kilimanjaro, Tanzania; and Lango sub-Region, Uganda. The four regions have varying clinical and digital readiness needs and challenges. The system is designed to strengthen the health systems using 11 digital health interventions which were selected following WHO guidelines.

The system will support clinical research by gathering harmonised longitudinal maternal and child data. The system will support epidemiological clinical research such as trialling vaccines at a low cost by using the real-world routinely collected data. This will speed up the production process of effective vaccines, other preventive measures and allow patients to access treatment and interventions and inform the development/improvement of clinical guidelines and health policies. The LINDA-FAMILIA proposal is in line with national digital health strategies in the four countries and the East Africa Digital REACH Initiative. Our proposal addresses the relevant public health short- and mid-term actions of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda 2023, including enabling improved equitable access to essential healthcare and providing the opportunities to create an international research hub and enhance sustainable global scientific collaborations. To achieve the expected impacts, we are partnering with the Ministry of Health in each country and will provide a country-specific LINDA-FAMILIA sustainability strategy.

Mum-Care, Mum's Cardiovascular Health for Life, http://mum-care.no

Mum-CARE is a research project to develop and test a health app for smartphones for women who have recently undergone one or more pregnancy complications that are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease in the long term. The project will start in the autumn of 2022 and is based on the National Guide to Obstetrics's' proposals for follow-up as well as the Norwegian Directorate of Health's general health recommendations.

NURTURE, Nurturing SDGs through Capacity Building of Higher Education in Ethiopia, http://nurture.usn.no

NURTURE strives to better, more accessible and more efficient higher education in the three areas of eHealth, informatics, and special needs in at 5 universities in Ethiopia: Bahir Dar, Gondar, Debre Markos, Jimma and AASTU. Partners from Norway are USN (project leader), UiO (ITS & Ifi), and Centre for eHealth research.

NoCoU, Norway Community of Users Civil Security for Society,

NoCoU is an open, vibrant and dynamic Norwegian user network (NoCoU) for societal security, safety, and resilience as a trans-disciplinary arena for collaboration, participants will share knowledge, promote Norwegian solutions at the European level and adapt European results to national needs.

Members of the NoCoU are from different domains, disciplines and will exchange experiences and support transfer of knowledge related to civil security, safety and resilience. The NoCoU are important contributors to, potential early adopters and users of civil security solutions as they provides inputs from research, practice and policy.

ResCri, A global partnership for stronger cyber resilience, https://nr.no/en/projects/bygger-motstandskraft-mot-cybertrusler-rescri/

ResCri is a long-term collaboration between leading universities and research institutes across four continents. The goal is to advance education, research and innovation in cyber resilience within critical sectors – with particular emphasis on secure IT-OT integration and the human and organisational factors that make resilience possible.
