  • current implementation did not convert base station transmit power PTx=25W into dB, leading to PTx=44dBm

Signal to Noise ratio (SNR)

  • SNR, calculated from SNR=Eb/N0fb/B resulted in -7dB, due to coding gain. Assumed
    • Eb/N0=5dB
    • Signal fb=12.2kbit/s for voice, and fb=100kbit/s for data in GSM resp. GPRS
  • assumed that GSM needs SNR of 7 dB

UMTS receiver sensitivity

  • specs require Psens=117dBm for BER=103

Notes

UMTS til GSM handover for tale: -104 dBm (normal -100 dBm) UMTS level

UMTS data is stable until about -117 dBm, with handover at -115 dBm
